Chef Jeremie Cruz

“The Rising Star”
What separates some people who go into the culinary industry from the rest is how willing they are to work day and night from the bottom up and absorb everything they’ve learned while adding their unique and distinct touch. Chef Jeremie Cruz personifies this example and is today considered one of Puerto Rico’s rising chefs. Cruz was born in New York City and moved to the island as a teenager. Although Cruz originally studied engineering, he was working as a dishwasher when the Conquistador Resort reopened in 1993. His hard work and dedication and willingness to learn and do whatever needed to be done was noticed by one of Puerto Rico’s most celebrated chefs, Roberto Treviño and eventually became a prep cook and just kept on rising. Chef Cruz subsequently rose to work at high end positions at Conquistador Country Club, Cassave Restaurant, Creative Food Concepts, and was even the coach of the National Culinary Team of Puerto Rico at one point. Cruz has been featured on Discovery Channel “Great Chefs of the World” and was named the Caribbean Chef of the Year in 1997. Today, Chef Jeremie Cruz enjoys being the Executive Chef at Villa Montaña Beach Resort in Isabela, Puerto Rico - the restaurant is well renowned as an ecological destination featuring the culinary creations of Puerto Rico’s newest rising star.
