To say Chef Giovanna Huyke hasn’t lived a very interesting life would be an understatement. Huyke is considered Puerto Rico’s culinary heroine as she is looked to as the expert and face and voice of the exotic cuisine that comes from the island. Chef Huyke is currently starring in Washington, D.C. as the Executive Chef at Mio Restaurant, an award winning spot for politicians as well as ordinary citizens. Her work there serves as the national spotlight of Puerto Rico’s dishes in the famous restaurant which serves as a “embassy of latin american cuisine” in the capital city. Prior to her ascent as Puerto Rico’s culinary ambassador, Chef Huyke has published many books and has been featured and hosted numerous prominent television shows. She has hosted a daily cooking show called “Giovanna’s Kitchen” which was broadcasted for over 23 years in Puerto Rico, as well as been featured on the Today Show, Good Morning America, Martha Stewart, Regis & Kathy Lee as well as write for national magazines and newspaper outlets such as the Miami Herald, El Nuevo Dia, and New York Times. Originally, Huyke wanted to have a career in theater as a performance artist. Thankfully, though, for foodies everywhere and the representation of Puerto Rico on the national stage Chef Huyke’s performance art and presentations come in savory dishes for everyone in the world to enjoy.
